What We Offer.
The obvious thing we offer is high quality coaching. That's a given - any coach you get here at the Barbell Club will get you to your goals, and maybe even beyond, their track record - both for their own achievements and those of their clients - prove that.
So, what do we offer that's different?
We offer a true community. While the Barbell Club only opened this year the group sessions have been around since 2016, with many of the original lifters still around. You don't get this longevity or this level of community just anywhere, it is something we have fostered and worked on.
With people as experienced, and as community focused, as this in our gym, you know that everyone you speak to could help you on your path to achieving your goals. If you find yourself with a question, one of the members has probably been through it themselves and they could be almost as helpful as the high quality coaches we employ.
Logistically, with the gym being based just outside of the City Centre, we have excellent transport routes with Brunswick train station a few minutes walk away. If you drive we have free parking. Which is always a bonus so close to the Centre.

What Are People Saying?
I never perceived myself as being the kind of person who could become an athlete, yet alone a world champion. I spent most of my 20s trying to find an exercise regime which I could fit around my life and which I actually enjoyed, but nothing ever quite fit.
Deciding to take on Danny Lee as my coach in 2018 is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Seeing the person - and lifter - I’ve become over the past four years has been absolutely incredible. I feel stronger both mentally and physically, leading to me competing at British and International level and becoming AWPC 110+kg World Bench Champion in 2022.
Powerlifting has brought me incredible friends, gold medals and the ability to squat my friends at parties. I could have done none of it without Danny Lee’s experience, guidance and encouragement.”
Christina McDermott-McGarrigle
Since starting with Danny Lee I have become not only physically stronger, but mentally. I feel much more confident in myself and I’m lucky to have found both an excellent coach and a friend in Danny. He also lets me play my terrible music in the gym sometimes. 23/10."

Generally, no. If you're looking at going straight to online then it would help as I will be less able to demonstrate or correct form on the go.
But if you're worried about being a beginner, you're welcome here.

This isn't really a worry for powerlifting - weight classes are there so that everyone can have a fair competition.
If a change in body composition is something you want to focus on as well, that can be achieved. But it will only happen if that's what you want to do.

For the powerlifting group, you need to at least be considering competition. The aim within the group is to push each other to a point where you can be your very best.
Yes, this is definitely an option - you will just have to work around the set group and class times.
